Intuition is so 2019…

And it is certainly not the way that conscious leaders are going to save this world. Let me explain:

Logic and the conscious mind

In our western education system, the main emphasis is on the conscious mind, more specific on the left side of the brain (logic). From early childhood we are stimulated and trained to use our conscious mind. How often were you told to analyse, think, be logical etc.?

Result is that we rely heavily on analysis and logic. Scientific research shows however, that our conscious mind only uses approximately 5% of our total brain capacity, the other 95% is used by our subconscious mind, also called intuition, gut feeling or sixth sense, a way of processing information and reaching conclusions subconsciously without analytical reasoning.

Intuition and the subconscious mind

The subconscious mind is wired to see and process patterns, followed by neurochemicals that trigger both the brain and gut. This gives us the sensation that something “feels” right or wrong.

We make decisions this way much quicker than with rational conscious thought. Without this system, we would get overwhelmed by all the choices and actions we have to make on a daily basis, from how to brush our teeth in the morning to which route we use to get to work. It is based on an extensive set of memories that our brain has collected since our birth. That’s why experienced entrepreneurs are often known to have “great instincts”, where in fact they subconsciously quickly recognise and process patterns and listen to the neurochemicals that trigger the brain.

However, even years of experience doesn’t prevent us from getting it wrong. Intuition often relies on many cognitive or cultural biases, which can prevent us from seeing situations clearly, as they truly are. There are numerous stories about successful business leaders trusting their intuition. And there are countless stories about leaders getting it wrong…

The world wide web is full of information about logic vs intuition. I don’t think that I have anything new and refreshing to add.

Superconscious mind

What I do want to talk about though, is one more way of making decisions: using our superconscious mind. Because it is the superconscious mind that makes it possible to achieve greatness and elevate the human spirit. It is the superconscious mind, i.e. a higher level of consciousness to get us out of the problems of today. As Einstein stated so accurately: problems cannot be solved from the same consciousness that created them.

And let’s be real: climate change, Covid, hunger and poverty, terrorism and violence, more and more division/duality: humanity as a collective created a lot of problems and we do need a tribe of leaders with higher consciousness and a capacity to lead us out of this mess.

So, what is this Superconscious Mind?

Shortly: the superconscious mind is a level of awareness that sees beyond material reality and taps into the energy and consciousness behind that reality. Carl Jung referred to this as the superconscious mind, Ralph Waldo Emerson called it oversoul, Napoleon Hill calls is infinite intelligence, and it is also known as divine intelligence and many other names.

The superconscious is where true creativity is found: ideas for great works of art, music, prose, poetry, great scientific discoveries, and deep spiritual experiences and insights.  Well known examples are Thomas Edison, composers like Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, Warren Buffet and Steve Jobs: they all claim to have received Sparks of Inspiration or insight or even permanent streams of creativity.

Otto Scharmer, the author of Theory U, refers to it as Presencing: going to the place of silence and allow the knowing to emerge/connecting to the Source of Inspiration. Going through the bottom of the U requires us to drop everything that isn’t essential: our ego and convictions, to be fully present and open and make the subtle connection to a deeper source of knowing. Once a group crosses this threshold, nothing remains the same. Individual members and the group as a whole begin to operate with a heightened level of energy and sense of future possibility, creativity and connectedness.

Lynn McTaggart, award winning scientific journalist and author of The Field, a book on research about connecting to super consciousness, says: “If all information from the cosmos flows through our pores at every moment, then our current notion of our human potential is only a glimmer of what it should be.”

Personally, I know that I am connected to the super consciousness when I receive flashes of insight or when I hear myself saying things to my clients that contain wisdom that is really beyond me…

I started to wonder:

How can we consciously access this superconscious mind?

And again, I come back to my main slogan:

Slow Down, Connect Deeply, Make Meaningful Impact

One way is through meditation. As you slow down and go deeper in meditation and experience a deepening peace, calmness, and even bliss, you are connected to deeper levels of the super consciousness. You might experience flashes of insight, or even (more) permanent states of heightened consciousness, like Eckart Tolle, Bentinho Massaro and many other spiritual teachers.

Another way is to slow down and be fully present, with all your senses, leaving behind our insecurities, opinions, cultural conditioning, and simply open up to the possibility of a deeper connection to the field, to something bigger that ourselves, to divine intelligence. To simply breathe and receive what comes up.

You will often get ideas that come to you from far beyond you. It is not even unusual for two people separated by thousands of miles of distance to come up with the same idea at the same time. Perfect examples are the invention of gunpowder and printing press at the same time in history at different places in the world.

Make Meaningful Impact: when you fully commit to an inspired goal, the connection to the superconscious mind will result in serendipity, coincidences beyond comprehension, like meeting the perfect person to support you, getting the perfect idea when taking a shower. Your superconscious mind and your connection to the field will also give you the lessons and experiences that you need to succeed, in the form of setbacks, problems, frustrations and temporary failures, that turn out to be just what you needed…

The more we trust, and the more we keep connecting to this field full of wondrous power and possibilities, the more miracles will happen.

My invitation to you is to slow down and connect deeply. Starting today, to set a goal. Test this power of the superconscious mind. Connect to it, trust it and practice it until you succeed. Then you will move from the positive thinking of the hopeful person to the positive knowing of the successful person. Then you will make meaningful Impact, to lead from the inside out, to live and lead from purpose.

Then you will be the leader this world needs, operating from a higher consciousness, leading us out of the messy state of the world we see today.

To your impact!
